Bonfire at Ocean Beach

Make a bonfire on a chilly evening at Ocean Beach. Bring a blanket, marshmallows, and a few friends. Just pick up your trash before you leave for the night.

The National Park Service manages Ocean Beach, a site within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). In response to concerns from community groups, beach neighbors, and the City of San Francisco, GGNRA has developed the following fire policy at Ocean Beach:

  • No glass or alcohol are allowed on the beach
  • The burning of painted or chemically-treated wood is prohibited
  • Please responsibly manage your fires by fully extinguishing them and collecting and removing debris
  • The current beach fire policy allows fires to be built on the beach area between Fulton Street and Lincoln Way - the area directly west of Golden Gate Park

For more information on the fire policy at Ocean Beach, see this web site: http://www.nps.gov/goga/clho/ocbe/

This is an awesome experience -- be sure to bring lots of wood and some extra blankets. It gets pretty cold out there!
